A4 DIMENSIONED SKETCH of Practical Project - Knights of Metrology
DUE DATE: April 13th 2009
The A4 dimensioned sketch must include the following elements:
- THREE projects. These will be sketches without the use use of compass or ruler and must all be different shapes/projects.
- (An example of what this could look like is included here as a PDF file)
FROM THESE THREE DRAFT SKETCHES, SELECT ONE, and:
- Sketch of your entire project (using a straight edge and compass to draw all lines)
- show all dimensions
- Labels all of the parts/items that are drawn
- Show surface area calculation of each element, then also a total surface area of the entire project - you must show the full calculation.
- Show volume calculation of each element, then also a total volume of the entire project - you must show the full calculation.
The rubric is on the wiki (here). Exemplary sketches include:
- All design criteria are met and size limitation is not exceeded.
- Neatness and clarity - easy to understand, uses entire A4 page.
- Labels - all items that are drawn must be labelled
- Materials - no materials list is required, but the labels are required to note the type of material that will be used for each item/element of the machine and an approximate cost of materials.
- Area and Volume calculations and totals are clearly shown - all dimensions clearly labeled and the calculations are able to be verified, using the information given on the dimensioned sketch.
