OPENING (on clean A4 paper)

  1. Sketch object on screen (object O).
  2. Sketch shape of each unique face.
  3. Determine how many of each face there are on the object.

TODAY'S OBECTIVES

  • Draw complex cubic shapes
  • Identify shape and number of faces on shapes made of cubes
  • Use imagination to generate ideas for sketching
  • Build to assigned dimensions

CLASS LESSON

  1. Drawing-students draw complex cubic shape (shape O) to imitate diagram on screen
  2. Students sketch each unique face and determine how many of each face there are (ie. as a step in determining total surface area.)
  3. Review assignments and dates
    1. 4/15-bring 3 sketches to class
    2. 4/16-bring dimensioned sketch to class (keep a copy for your self!)
    3. 4/20-building project due
    4. 4/27-reflection due
  4. Build:
    1. 2 uniquely dimensioned cuboids (rectangular prism) that
    2. BOTH have IDENTICAL volumes ...
    3. ... but DIFFERENT surface areas.
    4. Follow measurement requirements of final project (ie. avoid integers)
    5. present cuboids and calculations presented neatly and organized on A4 paper next period

ASSIGNMENT

A.  Complete above by next period...
